Super-Earth Planet HD 85512b

This animation shows an artist’s impression the planet orbiting the Sun-like star HD 85512 in the southern constellation of Vela (The Sail). This planet is one of sixteen super-Earths discovered by the HARPS instrument on the 3.6-meter telescope at ESO’s La Silla Observatory. This planet is about 3.6 times as massive as the Earth and lies at the edge of the habitable zone around the star, where liquid water, and perhaps even life, could potentially exist.

Japan had faced more than 100 mild earthquakes in last week or so until today. It is a tragic and an uncontrollable thing for a highly developed nation like Japan but thanks to their earthquake proof buildings which managed to stand ground even at a magnitude of 8.9 Richter scale, else the incident could have been much worse.

When you think of how many super earths will be discovered in the future, i find it laughable that some people still dismiss life on other planets.
